PLOVER, WIS. (Friday, July 24, 2009) – Ryan Carlson made his way to the front early and managed to hold off the two-time defending champion Jeremy Miller to top a 26 car field and claim the BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet “Jingle Bells 58” tonight at Golden Sands Speedway. Carlson maneuvered his way from the third row into first in just 20 laps, taking the lead away from Brian Bach and never looking back as he held on for the win.

As the skies darkened above, two-time defending series champion Jeremy Miller jumped out to the early lead in the BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet “Jingle Bells 58”. Brian Bach slid his way past Steve Dobbratz for second as Scott Broughton jumped up to third.

Seven laps in, Broughton began peeking on the inside of Bach for second as Miller built up a comfortable margin on the field. Miller lost his lead on lap 13 as a caution bunched the field back up due to an unassisted spin by Davey Pennel in turn two.

Plover, Wis. (May 22, 2009) – When the front row rolled trackside for the start of the Mid-American Stock Car Series’ Central Wisconsin 40 at Golden Sands Speedway, an instant favorite was identified. No one knew, however, that favorite would be starting on the inside of the front row, not the outside. Paul Neisius wrestled the lead away from former GSS super stock champion Brian Back on lap one, broke away from the field and led every lap of a green to checkered event en route to his first ever MASCS victory.

Neisius, a Midwest Super Truck veteran, and his cousin Justin decided this past winter it was best to hit the road and do some traveling with their Mid-American racers. The decision has ultimately led Paul to the first checkered flag of Mid-American’s 17th season.

“We’ve raced Mid-American before and it was a lot of fun,” said the Hastings, MN resident in victory lane. “When we decided to do some traveling this seemed like the right way to do it.”

Golden Sands Speedway has added some new events to our 2009 season schedule.

Golden Sands Speedway was started by Sam Bartus in the year of 1967. It was the first high banked, bowl shaped track that enticed a young group of drivers to glide, spin, and fly around the fastest third mile in the mid-west. The design of Golden Sands Speedway was so unique at it virtually had no other competition.
